Oui

Venturing off to Europe, not knowing anyone, was and is definitely the scariest thing I have done in my life thus far. Although I have always dreamed of living in Europe one day, the thought of leaving my friends and family for 3 months hit me all at once before I departed, in mid September. My sophomore year of college, I came to the conclusion that you either hear, "omg study abroad was the best experience of my life," or "not studying abroad was my biggest regret in college." Hence, I figured I would give it a shot, even if it scared the shit out of me.

Au revoir!

As I boarded the ginormous plane to London for the weekend, I encountered an overwhelming feeling of being alone. I was going off into the unknown and I couldn't help but question exactly what I had gotten myself into. However, after being greeted by the nice British lady and a glass of wine, I became more and more excited and began to make new friends, therefore shedding some of my nervousness and anxiety. Me running into a pole in the middle of the airport and eating shit was a great way to end the travel process in Heathrow. I was also that girl who brought a life supply of clothing with her.. my mom insisted that it was a good idea.
I am that girl..

Fast forward 2 weeks... I am now in Cannes, France which is a beautiful city right on the French Riviera. If I have learned anything thus far (besides some helpful French phrases..) it's to say yes to everything, or in my case, oui.
Wine at lunch? oui.
Party on a british sailboat? oui.
Sightseeing for 8 hours in Moncao? oui.
Staying out til 4 am before your first week of classes? oui.

I'll share one of the stories from above: me and my new friends decided to venture downtown our first Thursday. We stopped at a place called "La Piazza" where I consumed the best lasagna I have ever had in my life... seriously. However, after a couple of glasses of wine, the other patrons quickly began to realize that we were Americans... Laughing, spilling and attempting to order our food in English with a French accent (?) all accumulated to an unexpectedly great night. After leaving, we walked into a random Irish bar where we ended up meeting sailors from all over the world that were docked here for the Regatta. We heard their stories and even got to tour some of their sailboats! Not only was I asking them questions about their lives but also free lessons on how to sound like them (I've always wanted a British accent).

Attempting at an artsy pic... clearly did not work out

Cool sailboat party where I accidentally broke a glass
& my friend proceeded to throw it in the water
claiming that she was making "sea glass?"

Yachts on yachts in Monaco

Even the dogs were looking at me
like I was a peasant in Monaco..

And well because the medieval village of Eze
was absolutely breathtaking and a reminder
to take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the view.

Can't wait to see what's in store for me in Paris!
Until next time :)
